What is Deep Tissue?

Deep Tissue work involves specific work to muscle bodies (the main part of the muscle) and work on their attachment sites (where the muscles attach to bones). This work is great for athletes who put a lot of stress on their bodies, anyone with chronic pain like low back pain, recovering from injuries, and much more!

What is Cupping? How does it work?

Cupping is a therapy that has been practiced since 300-400 AD. In this glass or rubber cups are placed on the skin. The suction does several things: Pulls stagnant blood and cellular waste to the surface so you lymphatic system can flush that out while pulling in fresh blood and nutrients to the underlying structures and tissues. It also works to separate the skin from fascia, fascia from muscle, breaking up adhesions that have formed in the tissues. It also feels amazing!

What are the benefits of cupping?

Cupping has many benefits! Stiff congested tissue structures soften quickly and its effects on rigid and aching muscles is amazing. The negative pressure draws blood flow to areas of ischemic pain, loosens adhesions, promotes metabolism within the skin tissue, and drains stagnant blood, toxins and lymph, re-supplying vital nutrients.

Cupping is beneficial for many conditions like:

  • High blood pressure

  • Sciatica

  • Insomnia

  • Anxiety

  • Fatigue

  • Poor circulation

  • Edema

  • Sorts injuries

  • Cellulite

  • Nervous tension

  • Chronic headache

Cupping is a suitable treatment for pain, diseases or the digestive, circulatory and respiratory systems, some skin conditions, TMJD, weak muscles and the common cold!

What about those “bruises” that occur?

You are probably familiar with seeing those circular marks on olympic athletes. Although these marks resemble bruises, they are not painful, and are a representation of the amount of stagnation in the underlying tissues. As sessions progress you should see these marks become less dark over time as there should be less stagnation.
